As Paul McCartney once said, hello, goodbye.

Dear Twitter friends,

As Paul McCartney once said, hello, goodbye.

Rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Truth is, I’ve decided to give Twitter a break for the time being. If you’re reading this, you may be looking for an explanation as to why, so here it is.

I haven’t been enjoying it for a while now. There hasn’t been a specific incident and the reasons are various. Ultimately, I think we’ve just grown apart. What I’m saying is, it’s not you, it’s me.

To those of you, who have regularly sent me messages and supported me, I say thank you and please be in no doubt you are appreciated and valued. Your creativity, passion and positivity is always inspiring.

In the meantime, I’m going to concentrate on the real world and keep working hard. There’s a lot of really fun stuff coming up and there is still every chance you will be sick of me, in no time at all.

Presently, the account will reactivate and Harmony Carrigan aka @MyDogAteLA will head up an official team to run it as an offshoot of the long running Peggster website, which is 10 years old this year. If you’re interested in news from the Pegg camp and information regarding the various charities I support, then don’t touch that dial. It will however, no longer be my own voice.

Take care Tweeple and remember to use your powers for good.

Love from

Simon x

P.S. The Star Wars trailer is fucking AWESOME, right?!!!!!!

Actor/writer - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul, World's End. Also, secret agent, starship engineer and diesel weasel. GSOH. Must love dogs.

Hibye, Simon. We met and spoke last year, and I found you pleasingly not intolerable. I’m not a raving fan, and I find most franchise reboots dubious at best. But your presence is appreciated. Thanks for being fun. Oh, and don’t be such a Twitter pussy. Stay in touch. Sincerely, Gregory

    Phew,
Enjoy the real world, you know the one outside the internet. Apparently it’s in HD now.
Oh and Star Wars trailer caused miner nerdgasm.
    Take of yourself sir.

Twitter isn’t the same without you, Simon; so I deleted it from my phone. I keep it active for Harmony only now. I miss you.

    F*ck this.

I hope you will still give us some news of your halloween’s costume. You rock at that (and in lot of other things too).

I was wondering how I was gonna show appreciation in 140 characters for your latest movie (Hector and the search for happiness) and how happy it made me feel. To not find you, the real you, in Twitter just basically sucks ass. Thanks for the laughs, the deep thoughts, and the snarky-yet-lovable daily remarks. I’ll miss you :D

Sweet sweet man. You’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do. Sure, I’ll miss your wacky voice and your stories about your daughter and walking your dog, but I’m a fan no matter what. We all need breaks from the online world sometimes. Take care!

twitter sucks – it sucks even more without you – congrats on escaping into the real world, i hear it’s much better there…plan on getting there myself very soon! xx

I want you to know even though I respect your decision, it saddens me to the core to know you’re not there anymore. Going through cancer is hard enough, but without your wit to make me laugh, and to know that I’m just another blip on the planet makes me sad. Goodbye Mr. Pegg

P.S. Please write a big part for Scotty. The original, James Doohan, took time in the parking lot of a convention just to take pictures and talk to my sister and I, and he didn’t have to do that. It is one of my fondest memories. Now they charge ridiculous prices for that and more for a signature. I would want that connection when you talk to another person. It may be o.k. for some but not all of us have money. Just F.Y.I.

There is no chance you’ll read this, but I say it anyway…..I understand your writing the new startrek story, could you perhaps maybe restore the timeline. Also startrek was always about inspiring people with space exploration. Ask anyone at NASA over the age of 30 why the joined and an overwhelming number will say it was watching kirk explore the universe. Startrek used to be amazing, you of all people should recognize the great responsibility you now have to restore the spirt of the franchise and move away from explosions and concentrate more with the story.

    Just a thought.

Yes social media is running amok (yes amok time lol). I enjoyed all of your movies, very intelligent and well made and I must say very refreshing. I have a great story idea to correct the time line in the Star Trek Movie reboot (I read you are a co-writer). I wish I had a way to submit the idea to someone, I do not want recognition but to see the timeline fixed/restored so all my old Star Trek DVDs become relavant again lol. I will give you a clue, it involves the Telosians (better known as the buttheads). Keep up the great work!!

Respectfully requesting a check-in with your website and blog, Sir. I certainly would love to see your words again. Perhaps think about popping in and saying hello to those who miss you dearly.

Fantastic job with Star Trek Beyond, Simon. The best of the reboots, and I blame you. Keep it up!
