Dear Twitter friends,
As Paul McCartney once said, hello, goodbye.
Rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Truth is, I’ve decided to give Twitter a break for the time being. If you’re reading this, you may be looking for an explanation as to why, so here it is.
I haven’t been enjoying it for a while now. There hasn’t been a specific incident and the reasons are various. Ultimately, I think we’ve just grown apart. What I’m saying is, it’s not you, it’s me.
To those of you, who have regularly sent me messages and supported me, I say thank you and please be in no doubt you are appreciated and valued. Your creativity, passion and positivity is always inspiring.
In the meantime, I’m going to concentrate on the real world and keep working hard. There’s a lot of really fun stuff coming up and there is still every chance you will be sick of me, in no time at all.
Presently, the account will reactivate and Harmony Carrigan aka @MyDogAteLA will head up an official team to run it as an offshoot of the long running Peggster website, which is 10 years old this year. If you’re interested in news from the Pegg camp and information regarding the various charities I support, then don’t touch that dial. It will however, no longer be my own voice.

Ah that’s a shame, but I hear ya! I’ve been on Twitter since 2008 and used to tweet all the time but now it’s only every now-and-again. I hope it’s not THE end of you actually tweeting, tho.
Please lose the pipe. Pipe smoking is the source of multiple types of aggressive cancer, including mouth, tongue, throat and, of course, lung cancer. You are far more valuable to us all and to yourself whole.

Checking your Twitter everyday to see if you’ve tweeted has been a highlight for me for the past few years. I have depression and anxiety and you’re one of the things that makes me smile and feel calm. I will miss having your voice in my feed and I’ll especially miss your lovely selfies. :) It’s weird how someone you’ve never met can become like a part of your life that you kind of rely on. I’m sorry you haven’t been enjoying Twitter much lately. Your happiness is important, so I support your decision to leave even though I will miss you. I have just joined Twitter and am sad I won’t be able to follow you as I am a huge fan of you and Nick….I totally loved you in Star Trek and truly hope there will be another film, in the not too distant future, or distant galaxy even! My favourite character you have acted is Nicholas Angel in Hot Fuzz, god I love that film, as does my hubby but Paul is his favourite film of yours. Good luck and success with everything you have planned.

Oh dear Simon, don’t you know how easily you make me smile with your hilarious tweets? Checking your twitter before sleep it’s like a great relief from the crazy day. Sad to see you go, and wishing it was either work-related or temporary. Social media has a tendency to bring out anti-social behavior in some, and if “normal people” get tired of it, it’s difficult to imagine how much worse it is for someone who makes a living in the public eye.

I don’t have a twitter account, but your twitter was one of the only ones I would check out as a huge fan of everything you do. There are still plenty of ways to keep updated like this awesome official site. Thank you for everything you do, you are a constant inspiration and always will be. Simon rules!!!
I’ll be honest, this makes me very sad. Simon was the reason I joined Twitter, & any acknowledgement from him always made my day. I hope he comes back to feel the love.
